Brick & Brews: Unveiling Our Latest Commissions at The Brass Taps, Toronto
We’ve always believed that art shouldn’t just be confined to quiet, sterile galleries. Sometimes, it needs to be out in the wild, surrounded by good conversation, great music, and excellent craft beer.
That was the exact inspiration behind our latest pop-up event: Beer and Builds.
Last weekend, we packed up our studio and took over The Brass Taps in the heart of downtown Toronto to unveil our newest large-scale LEGO® commissions. The result was an unforgettable night where the worlds of childhood nostalgia and sophisticated artistry collided.

Setting the Vibe: Pints and Pixels
If you’ve been to The Brass Taps, you know the aesthetic: industrial-chic, exposed red brick walls, dark wood beams, and a golden, buzzy atmosphere lit by low-hanging Edison bulbs. It turned out to be the absolute perfect backdrop for our work.
We transformed the venue into a vibrant, pop-up art gallery. The warm lighting perfectly caught the glossy finish of the bricks, while the industrial brick walls provided a gritty contrast to the bright, primary colors of our sculptures. It wasn’t just a bar anymore; it was an interactive art space packed with Toronto’s art enthusiasts and craft beer lovers alike.
The Unveiling: Up Close and Personal
The highlight of the evening was finally letting the public get up close to our latest commission pieces. From a distance, our large-scale pop-culture portraits look like high-resolution digital art or painted canvases.
But the magic happens when guests step closer, pint in hand.
Watching people lean in, their eyes widening as they realize that the massive, perfectly shaded movie poster on the wall is actually composed of thousands of individual 1×1 LEGO® plates, never gets old. Alongside the wall-mounted mosaics, we displayed our highly detailed, three-dimensional statues on sleek, modern black pedestals. Surrounded by localized gallery lighting, these complex builds sparked endless conversations about engineering, design, and the sheer patience required to build them.
Live Art in Action: The Toronto Skyline
We didn’t just want to show finished pieces; we wanted to show the process.
Throughout the night, one of our lead artists hosted a “live build” station. Wearing a custom Beer and Builds apron and sipping on a dark stout, she meticulously placed tiny 1×1 plates onto a massive vertical baseplate. Over the course of the evening, a stunning, pixelated Toronto skyline slowly emerged from the grid.
It became a central gathering point. Guests loved checking back in every hour to see the progress, gaining a firsthand appreciation for the meticulous, pixel-by-pixel dedication that goes into professional LEGO® mosaic art.
Cheers to the Next Build
Beer and Builds proved exactly what we’ve always known: LEGO® is a highly sophisticated, versatile medium that absolutely belongs in trendy adult venues. It sparks joy, nostalgia, and genuine awe.
A massive thank you to everyone in Toronto who came out, grabbed a pint, and supported local art. The energy in the room was incredible, and we are already sketching out ideas for the next one.
